This special event features a screening of the short film program "Deconstructions: Right to the Truth," a retrospective of Ukrainian documentary films from the late 1980s and 1990s. Following the screening, there will be a Q&A session with Kseniia Opria (in person), editor at Docudays UA, film curator, and documentary filmmaker, and Yuliia Kovalenko (remote), film critic, PhD in Cultural Studies, Program Director at Docudays UA, and curator of the Deconstructions film program. This program presents a retrospective of Ukrainian documentary films from the late 1980s and 1990s, originally featured in partnership with the Dovzhenko Centre and the 23rd Docudays UA. These films explore themes such as hard labor, historical events like the Chornobyl disaster and the Afghan War, and personal narratives of artists and exiled communities during a period of significant political and social change in Ukraine.
