Ancestral Computation brings together works that challenge Western technoscientific perspectives, drawing from the SWANA region and its diasporic timelines. These works evoke ancestral knowledge, forming new ways of understanding the world from gaps in data and historical records. They explore themes such as algorithmic dream interpretation, tools to disrupt classification systems, resistance to surveillance, and the summoning of precolonial deities through radio transmissions. The films aim to establish alternative temporalities, rejecting the idea that non-Western technologies belong to the past.
